Providenciales food - always to remember
Due to the Islands' location and size, most foods must be imported to the Turks and Caicos. This causes the cost of food to be higher than it is on other islands; it may also be considered high by U.S. standards as well. Still, low-cost meals can cost as little as $5(USD). For something a little nicer, expect to spend between $10(USD) and $15(USD). At the most expensive of places, expect to pay more than $20(USD). Tax, and sometimes a tip, will be added to your bill. The chefs of Provo offer French, Italian, Cantonese, Mediterranean, Mexican, Thai, Japanese, regional American and native style cuisine all with a Caribbean twist. These restaurants offer the full range of atmosphere and taste tempting delights. Almost everything on the island is imported by boat or plane and the full menu may not always be available. Ask about daily specials, the local fish, tuna, grouper, snapper, wahoo and mahi-mahi is always fresh. Conch - pronounced konk - is plentiful and lobster, in season from August through March, is a great treat! A 10% government food tax is added to your dinner tab. Some establishments also add a gratuity. Be sure to check. A 15% gratuity is customary for good, friendly service.
